I don't publish a fixed price list, and I'd rather tell you why than pretend. A 20-minute drop-in for one easygoing cat and twice-daily winter chores for four horses, a dozen hens and two dogs are not the same job, and a single number on a website would be wrong for one of you.
So here's the honest version: call or text with your dates, your animals and your address, and I'll quote the whole trip — usually the same day, always before you commit to anything.
What changes the price
- How many animals, and what kind — house pets, poultry, or livestock
- How many visits per day, and how long each one needs to be
- Whether you need overnights instead of drop-ins
- Medical care: insulin, injections, fluids, wound care, mobility help
- Farm chores like stalls, turnout, tank de-icing and coop cleaning
- Distance, for rural properties well outside town
- Major holidays, which are in the highest demand
- Trip length — over five days, the rate comes down

- The meet-and-greet before your first booking
- Photo and text updates after every visit
- Medications given on your schedule
- Mail and packages brought in, trash and recycling out
- Plants watered, lights and blinds used normally
- Litter scooped, cages and coops tidied, water bowls washed

Why an independent sitter is often the better value
Booking platforms add a service fee on top of the sitter's rate, and that money buys you an app, not better care. Kennels charge per pet per night, which adds up fast in a multi-pet home, and your animals still have to leave the house.
With me, the quote is the price, one sitter covers every animal on the property, and your home gets watched over as part of the deal.
Payment and cancellations
We settle up in whatever way is easy for you, at the end of the stay unless you'd rather handle it in advance. Plans change and animals get sick — tell me as early as you can and we'll sort it out like neighbors, not like a contract dispute.

Can you give me a rough range over the phone?
Yes. Tell me your animals and dates and I'll give you a real number, not a runaround.
Is it cheaper than boarding?
Frequently, especially with two or more pets, since kennels bill per animal per night. It also avoids boarding's hidden costs: required vaccine visits, kennel stress, and the recovery days afterward.
Do you charge more for holidays?
Holidays are the busiest dates of the year and are priced accordingly. Book early and I'll be straight with you about what it costs.
How does the 5-day discount work?
Trips longer than five days get a reduced rate for the stay. Tell me your full dates and it's already built into the quote.
