Overnight pet sitting & house sitting
Some animals are fine with a visit or two a day. Others fall apart at 9pm when nobody comes home — pacing, barking, chewing doorframes, or simply lying by the door waiting. If that's your dog, overnight care is the honest answer.
I stay in your home from evening through morning: dinner, an evening walk, lights out with company on the couch, then breakfast and a morning walk before I go. Your house stays lived-in the whole time, which is worth something on its own.
What an overnight includes
- Evening arrival with dinner, medications and a real walk
- Backyard time, brushing, or whatever the evening routine already is
- Overnight in the home — someone there if a storm rolls through or a stomach turns
- Morning breakfast, meds, and another walk or turnout
- Litter, cages, coops and tanks handled alongside the dogs
- Mail and packages in, trash and recycling to the curb on your schedule
- Lights and blinds used normally, plants watered, thermostat kept sensible
- Daily photos and a short note before you have to ask

House sitting details people forget to mention
Tell me these before you go and nothing becomes a surprise: which day trash and recycling go out, where the water shutoff is, the alarm code and how long the delay is, whether a neighbor has a key, when the sprinklers run, and who your vet is along with a backup emergency clinic.
In Northern Colorado I'd also want to know how your heat behaves in a cold snap, whether pipes have frozen before, and what to do if the power goes out — that's a real February question here, not a hypothetical.
Holidays and longer trips
Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, spring break and summer weekends book earliest. If your dates are anywhere near a holiday, reach out as soon as you know them.
Trips longer than five days get a discounted rate. Longer stays also let me settle into your household's actual rhythm, which is when nervous dogs finally relax.
Frequently asked questions
What hours are you actually at the house?
Typically evening through the next morning, with a visit back during the day. If your dog needs more coverage than that, tell me and we'll build a schedule that fits rather than pretending one size works.
Will you have people over?
No. Your home isn't a social venue. It's your house, and I treat it that way.
Can you handle multiple species overnight?
Yes — dogs and cats plus chickens, horses, goats, rabbits, birds, fish or reptiles in the same stay. That's normal around here.
Do you house sit even if I don't have pets?
Occasionally, for existing clients. Pets come first when the calendar is tight.
